Description
The University of Mary Hardin Baylor seeks a qualified faculty member for its Master of Science in Physician Assistant Program, to begin June 1, 2020. This is a year-round (12-month) tenure track position with initial appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Anatomical Sciences, commensurate with experience. UMHB seeks faculty who are active Christians and dedicated teacher-scholars to prepare students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.

The UMHB Physician Assistant Program is currently in Applicant Status and will be eligible for Provision Accreditation in the fall of 2020. This position will be responsible for ongoing development of anatomical science didactic coursework and working with the Program Director and the faculty team to ensure compliance with all curricular content-related to the ARC-PA standards in preparation for future and continual accreditation.

Faculty Responsibilities:   Activities required of all graduate faculty include exemplary teaching; curriculum development; curriculum and program evaluation; student advising; professional attainment; and service to department, college, university, and the community.

Specific Responsibilities:  This position includes ongoing anatomical science didactic curricular development and evaluation; teaching physician assistant graduate anatomy courses and labs; overseeing and instructing cadaveric anatomic lab exercises; preparation of cadaveric dissections; evaluation of physician assistant graduate students; advising and mentoring physician assistant students; participation in initial and continual accreditation; involvement in the program’s admission process; and participating in departmental and university committees. In addition, this position will teach anatomy courses for other Mayborn College of Health Sciences programs, as schedule allows.
 
Qualifications: One of the Following is required:
  1. Physician Assistant with
    • Master’s or Doctoral degree
    • Clinical anatomy experience and/or training in advance anatomical sciences and current NCCPA Certification.
    • A current and unencumbered Texas PA license is required or a current PA licensure in another state with eligibility to achieve Texas licensure within one (1) year of hire
        OR

        2. Board-Certified M.D. or D.O. with
    • Clinical anatomy experience
    • A current and unencumbered Texas MD or DO license is required or a current MD or DO licensure in another state with eligibility to achieve Texas licensure within one (1) year of hire.
        OR

        3. Doctoral Degree in Biology with emphasis in human anatomy and cell biology

For any qualified candidate, additional requirements and preferences include:
  1. Professional Experience: Minimum of three (3) years clinical employment experience is required.
  2. Education Experience: Teaching and/or experience as a clinical educator or preceptor is preferred.
  3. Excellent teaching and communication skills, a dedication to professional attainment, and commitment to quality improvement are essential.
  4. Must be an active, and committed Christian.
