Description
The University of Mary Hardin Baylor’s Scott and White School of Nursing seeks a qualified Director for its graduate nursing programs. This is a full-time year-round tenure-track position with initial appointment of at the rank of Associate Professor, commensurate with experience. UMHB seeks faculty who are active Christians and dedicated teacher-scholars to prepare students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.

The Scott and White School of Nursing offers a Master of Science in Nursing with three tracks: Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, and Nurse Educator; and a Doctor of Nursing Practice with two tracks: APRN and Administration.

UMHB is conveniently located in Belton, an historic town of 20,000 in the heart of central Texas. Nearby cities are Temple (5 miles), Waco (45 miles), Austin (65 miles), San Antonio (130 miles) and Dallas/Ft. Worth (130 miles). Excellent schools, abundant cultural and recreational opportunities, and a high quality of life are hallmarks of the local community.

Faculty Responsibilities: Activities required of all faculty include exemplary teaching, curriculum development, student advising; professional attainment; and service to department, college, university, and the community.

Specific Responsibilities: In cooperation with the Scott and White School of Nursing Dean, provides effective leadership to the graduate nursing programs. Directs the program’s curriculum, accreditation process, program evaluation, learning outcomes, and faculty supervision. Achieves and maintains robust student enrollment and retention. Advises and guides students toward successful program completion. Serves as liaison with external resources, including precept/clinical experiences for students. Leads and monitors full compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards. Teaches masters and doctoral-level courses in nursing. The Director’s teaching responsibilities are two courses each semester. Additional compensation is paid for summer teaching.

Qualifications:
Education: A doctoral degree in nursing or healthcare related field (Ph.D., DNP, Ed.D.) is required. Additionally, a Master’s degree in Nursing is required.

Licensure: A current and valid Texas RN license is required. Current licensure in another state with eligibility to achieve Texas RN licensure within six (6) months of hire may be substituted. Texas APRN licensure with certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of three (3) years clinical employment experience is required. Teaching experience is required, preferably teaching experience at the graduate level.

Other: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a dedication to professional attainment, and commitment to quality improvement are essential. Must be an active and committed Christian.
