The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor seeks qualified Christian employees for this position.

Responsibilities:  Under the direction of the Director of the Arts Academy, the Toddler and Elementary Classroom Music teacher provides instruction in basic musical concepts through group activity-based lessons. The classroom music teacher will provide engaging music education for toddler and elementary students, incorporating movement, instruments, singing and storytelling.  The Arts Academy Toddler and Elementary Music Teacher will provide professional instruction, fostering a joyful and inclusive learning environment that supports early musical development to students up to the age of twelve (12). 

Primary teaching hours are  Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM, with morning classes also available  based on student enrollment. Schedule will vary depending on the number of students assigned to each teacher. Occasional  weekend events and performances  are required.

Minimum Requirements: 
  1. Must be an active and committed Christian who will support the University’s mission and who will be an active participant in their local church.
  2. Undergraduate degree in Music or related field required and experience in teaching elementary classroom music preferred.
  3. Experience in classroom music skills, such as rhythm instrument proficiency, basic piano skills, guitar, (or other accompaniment instruments), singing skills and general musicianship to youth in a school, community, or church setting required.
  4. Knowledge of toddler and/or elementary music methods and curriculum is required.
  5. Certifications such as Orff, Kindermusik, and/or Kodaly preferred.
  6. Knowledge of music appropriate for toddler and elementary age children in alignment with the University’s mission is required.
  7. Excellent classroom management skills are required.
  8. Experience in leading toddler and elementary classes in performances and event participation is required.
  9. Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently is required. 
  10. Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative relationships and communicate effectively with students and parents.
  11. Must agree to the University’s Employee Statement of Understanding.
