Description
The University of Mary Hardin Baylor’s College of Humanities and Sciences seeks an Assistant / Associate Professor of Social Work for its Bachelor of Social Work program beginning Fall 2020. UMHB seeks faculty who are active Christians and dedicated teacher-scholars to prepare students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.

The Social Work, Sociology, and Criminal Justice Department offers undergraduate degree programs in Social Work, Sociology, and Criminal Justice. The Bachelor of Social Work program is a CSWE accredited program that will seek reaffirmation in June 2023. The Social Work program has over 70 majors.

UMHB is conveniently located in Belton, an historic town of 20,000 in the heart of central Texas. Nearby cities are Temple (5 miles), Waco (45 miles), Austin (65 miles), San Antonio (130 miles) and Dallas/Ft. Worth (130 miles). Excellent schools, abundant cultural and recreational opportunities, and a high quality of life are hallmarks of the local community.

Faculty Responsibilities:   Activities required of all faculty include exemplary teaching, curriculum development, student advising; professional attainment; and service to department, college, university, and the community.

Specific Responsibilities:  Teach undergraduate courses in Social Work and related courses. The teaching load is typically 12 hours per semester of undergraduate courses. Participate in program evaluation and accreditation based on the CSWE EPAS and program assessment for the university. Adherence to and modeling of the NASW Code of Ethics.
 
Qualifications: 
Doctorate in Social Work is required; ABD will be considered (tenure-track status requires terminal degree in hand). Excellent teaching and communication skills, a dedication to professional attainment, and commitment to quality improvement are essential. Must be an active and committed Christian. Additional requirements include:
  • Master of Social Work degree from a CSWE accredited Social Work Program
  • At least two (2) years post-MSW direct practice experience
  • Current Texas licensure as a LMSW or LCSW, or current licensure in another state with eligibility and achievement of Texas license as a social worker within one year.
  • Ability to teach across the BSW curriculum.
  • Demonstrated professional social work involvement.
