Description
The University of Mary Hardin Baylor’s College of Education seeks qualified faculty for its graduate programs in Education beginning Fall 2019, with initial appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, commensurate with experience. UMHB seeks faculty who are active Christians and dedicated teacher-scholars to prepare students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.

The College of Education offers several graduate degree programs which include the following focus areas:
  • Master’s in Education in Educational Administration
  • Master’s in Education in Curriculum & Instruction
  • Doctorate in Education with Concentration in P-12 Public Education
  • Doctorate in Education with Concentration in Higher Education
UMHB is conveniently located in Belton, an historic town of 20,000 in the heart of central Texas. Nearby cities are Temple (5 miles), Waco (45 miles), Austin (65 miles), San Antonio (130 miles) and Dallas/Ft. Worth (130 miles). Excellent schools, abundant cultural and recreational opportunities, and a high quality of life are hallmarks of the local community.

Faculty Responsibilities:   Activities required of all faculty include exemplary teaching, curriculum development, student advising; professional attainment; and service to department, college, university, and the community.

Specific Responsibilities:  Teach learner-centered graduate courses at the master’s and doctoral levels. The teaching load is typically 9 hours per semester (teaching 2 courses and chairing 6 doctoral dissertation committees each semester is the typical load). Additional duties will include:
  • Work with local and state entities in placing and monitoring internships.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members in monitoring and implementing various aspects of the graduate programs.
  • Serve as a member of a minimum of 6 dissertation committees (at additional salary).
  • Lead or co-lead mandatory summer courses to Austin, Washington, D.C., and/or international locations on a rotating summer schedule (at additional salary).
Qualifications: Doctorate from an accredited institution with an area of emphasis in one or more of the focus areas is required; preference will be given to candidates with experience in qualitative research methods. Excellent teaching and communication skills, a dedication to professional attainment, and commitment to quality improvement are essential. Must be an active, and committed Christian.
