Description
Responsibilities: 

Develops and manages a portfolio of individuals with a gift capacity ranging from at least $10,000 to $1 million or more. Executes gift and estate planning strategies to develop major gifts and planned gifts to the university.

Minimum Requirements: 

Required:

  1. Bachelor’s degree
  2. A minimum of:
    • five (5) years of increasingly successful experience in fundraising with at least two (2) years in gift planning,
      or
    • five (5) years of successful experience in sales, marketing, business development, financial planning, or equivalent.
  3. Knowledge and skill in planned gift development and/or estate and financial planning and/or trust development.
  4. Proven and measurable track record of successful face-to-face interactions with prospective donors, clients, and/or customers.
  5. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
  6. Excellent writing skills including the ability to craft excellent letters and proposals.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office for Windows applications (word processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail, presentation graphics, etc.).
  8. Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills.
  9. Must be available for extensive travel and variable schedules, including early morning meetings, evening engagements, and occasional weekend obligations.
  10. Must possess a current and valid Texas driver’s license and be insurable under UMHB auto coverage.

Preferred:

  1. Experience in leading major and/or planned gift development in a capital campaign or special project and successful record of achieving campaign/project goals.
  2. Experience in developing a strategic plan for soliciting and securing gifts from private sources or the equivalent in the corporate environment.
  3. Knowledge, skill and expertise in the area of estate planning and financial planning.
  4. Knowledge, skill and expertise in all planned gift instruments.
