Description
Responsibilities:  Under the direction of the Director of the Arts Academy, the dance teacher provides instruction in Dance, Choreography and Movement through group lessons and classes. The dance instructor will provide preparation for students to perform in recitals and other public settings and events. The Arts Academy dance teacher will offer professional guidance and instruction to students of all ages and levels, and will teach with knowledge and expertise. 

Work schedule will depend on the number of classes and students assigned. All lessons and classes are scheduled for Monday through Friday, primarily in the afternoon and up to 8:00PM. Some weekend performances will be required.
 
Minimum Requirements: 
  • Undergraduate degree required and experience in teaching dance to all ages strongly suggested.
  • Experience, demonstrating a knowledge of, and experience in performing a breadth of styles and dance repertoire.
  • Knowledge of uniforms, practice and performance costumes and other equipment necessary for dance practice and performance.
  • Knowledge of music appropriate to dance styles and routines to be used in classes, lessons and performance.
  • Must be able to demonstrate dance and choreography technique.
  • Experience in dance and choreography performance, both solo and ensemble.
  • Reliability and dependability is a must!
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and work independently as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; good communication and excellent time management.
