The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor seeks qualified Christian employees for this position.

Responsibilities:  Under the direction of the Director of the Arts Academy, the Choir Director plans and leads weekly choir rehearsals/classes for students of all ages and skill levels. The Arts Academy Choir Director select appropriate repertoire that aligns with the University’s values and performance goals, teaches vocal technique, sight-reading, ear training, and ensemble skills, as well as prepares students for performances, recitals, and community events in collaboration with other faculty and staff to support interdisciplinary arts programming. 

Work schedule will depend on the number of classes and students assigned. All lessons and classes are scheduled for Monday through Friday, primarily in the afternoon and up to 8:00 p.m.  However, morning classes may also be available based on student enrollment.  Some weekend performances will be required.
 
Minimum Requirements: 
  1. Must be an active and committed Christian who will support the University’s mission and who will be an active participant in their local church.
  2. Bachelor’s degree required.  
  3. Experience in music or related field required.
  4. Experience in ensemble participation required.
  5. Piano proficiency for rehearsal accompaniment is preferred.
  6. Experience with sacred, classical, and contemporary choral repertoire preferred.
  7. Ability to integrate technology into music instruction is preferred.
  8. Must be reliable and dependable in keeping lesson times and in communicating with students and parents when cancellations or changes in schedules must be made.
  9. Ability to relate personally to students and parents in a cordial and professional manner.
  10. Ability to organize and prioritize work and work independently as needed.
  11. Excellent time management skills necessary.
  12. Must agree to the University’s Employee Statement of Understanding.
