The University of Mary Hardin Baylor’s College of College of Humanities and Sciences seeks qualified faculty for its Chemistry Department for the 2019-2020 academic year, beginning August 2019, with appointment at the rank of Visiting Assistant or Visiting Associate Professor, commensurate and experience. UMHB seeks faculty who are active Christians and dedicated teacher-scholars to prepare students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.

The Chemistry Department offers one undergraduate degree program that includes two areas of emphasis, an emphasis in chemistry and an emphasis in biochemistry and molecular biology. The department provides students with opportunities to conduct original chemical research, and prepares students for positions in forensic chemistry, pharmaceutical development, environmental science, high school teaching, and research in industry. ​​​​​​​

UMHB is conveniently located in Belton, an historic town of 20,000 in the heart of central Texas. Nearby cities are Temple (5 miles), Waco (45 miles), Austin (65 miles), San Antonio (130 miles) and Dallas/Ft. Worth (130 miles). Excellent schools, abundant cultural and recreational opportunities, and a high quality of life are hallmarks of the local community.

Faculty Responsibilities:  Activities required of all faculty include exemplary teaching, curriculum development, student advising; professional attainment; and service to department, college, university, and the community.

Specific Responsibilities:  Teach undergraduate courses in biochemistry lecture and laboratory, advanced biochemistry, general chemistry lecture and laboratory, and introductory non-majors lectures and laboratories. The teaching load is a minimum of 12 hours up to 15 hours per semester.
 
Qualifications:  Doctorate in Chemistry or Biochemistry is required; Excellent teaching and communication skills, a dedication to professional attainment, and commitment to quality improvement are essential. Must be an active, and committed Christian.
