Description

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor’s College of Education invites applications for a visiting, non-tenure-track faculty position, beginning late July of 2026, with the additional responsibility of serving as the Interim Director of the Doctor of Education program.  The Doctor of Education program began in the summer of 2007 and emphasizes leadership preparation in P-12 and Higher Education.  Through this embedded dissertation program, students are immersed in educational trends at the state, national, and international levels.  UMHB seeks faculty who are active Christians and dedicated teacher-scholars to prepare students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.

The College of Education offers an undergraduate program for teacher certification as well as several graduate degree programs.  All undergraduate courses relate to public school instruction and involve preparation for success on the Texas Examination of Educator Standards as well as proficiency in the classroom.  Individuals with public school experience are preferred. 

UMHB is conveniently located in Belton, a historic town of 25,000 in the heart of central Texas. Nearby cities are Temple (5 miles), Waco (45 miles), Austin (65 miles), San Antonio (130 miles) and Dallas/Ft. Worth (130 miles). Excellent schools, abundant cultural and recreational opportunities, and a high quality of life are hallmarks of the local community.

Faculty Responsibilities: Activities required include exemplary teaching, curriculum development, student advising, recruitment, management of the EdD program, and service to department, college, university, and the community.   

Specific Responsibilities:  
  • Teach learner-centered courses (including online instruction as well as face-to-face) related to one or more of the following:
    • Qualitative and/or Quantitative Research
    • Educational Theories
  • Provide oversight for dissertation committees.
  • Maintain processes and procedures for the Doctor of Education program.
Qualifications: 
  1. Must be an active and committed Christian who will support the University’s mission and who will be an active participant in their local church.
  2. Doctorate from an accredited institution with an area of emphasis in educational leadership.
  3. Valid teaching certificate and minimum successful teaching experience in the K-12 environment preferred.
  4. Experience in higher education preferred. 
  5. P-12 and/or HE leadership experience preferred.
  6. Texas teaching experience is a plus.
  7. Must agree to the University's Statement of Understanding
