The Art Department offers BFA and BA undergraduate degree programs that include Majors in Studio Art, Graphic Design, and Art Education.
UMHB is conveniently located in Belton, an historic town of 22,000 in the heart of central Texas. Nearby cities are Temple (5 miles), Waco (45 miles), Austin (65 miles), San Antonio (130 miles) and Dallas/Ft. Worth (130 miles). Excellent schools, abundant cultural and recreational opportunities, and a high quality of life are hallmarks of the local community.
Faculty Responsibilities: Activities required of all faculty include exemplary teaching, curriculum development, student advising; professional attainment; and service to department, college, university, and the community.
Specific Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses in Foundations and Sculpture; serve as Art Studio Technician; serve as the Gallery Director for the university’s Baugh Center for the Visual Arts. The teaching load will typically be two Art courses each long semester (fall and spring). Responsibilities as Art Studio Technician and Gallery Director will span both the academic year and additional weeks during the summer (accordingly, the faculty contract will be a 10-month term rather than the typical 9-month term).
