Description
The University of Mary Hardin Baylor’s College of Humanities and Sciences seeks qualified faculty for its Mathematics Department beginning Fall 2019, with appointment at the rank of Instructor. UMHB seeks faculty who are active Christians and dedicated teacher-scholars to prepare students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.

The Mathematics Department offers two undergraduate degree programs that include a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts. We also offer a minor in Mathematics. Courses are designed to meet the needs of students in pursuit of a liberal arts degree, students in a teacher training program, and students preparing for graduate study or a career in Mathematics or related field. The bachelor’s degree in Mathematics is designed to help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills through mathematical reasoning to prepare majors to excel in math-related jobs in business and industry, to be effective math teachers, or to utilize their math skills in other fields of study.

UMHB is conveniently located in Belton, an historic town of 20,000 in the heart of central Texas. Nearby cities are Temple (5 miles), Waco (45 miles), Austin (65 miles), San Antonio (130 miles) and Dallas/Ft. Worth (130 miles). Excellent schools, abundant cultural and recreational opportunities, and a high quality of life are hallmarks of the local community.

Faculty Responsibilities:   Activities required of all faculty include exemplary teaching, curriculum development, student advising; professional attainment; and service to department, college, university, and the community.

Specific Responsibilities:  Teach undergraduate courses in introductory non-major’s mathematics, introductory major’s mathematics, and advanced courses. The teaching load is 15 hours per semester of undergraduate courses and minimal committee work.
 
Qualifications:  Masters in Mathematics with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Mathematics is required. Excellent teaching and communication skills, a dedication to professional attainment, and commitment to quality improvement are essential. Must be an active, and committed Christian.
