Description
Responsibilities: 

Facilitates all undergraduates (approximately 300 students) in meeting each benchmark required under the state teaching certification requirements. Coordinates the College of Education’s graduate programs admissions process. Provides guidelines for students seeking principal’s certification and superintendent’s certification (approximately 65 students) on benchmarks required under state regulations. Monitors registration of all candidates through the State Board for Educator Certification. Serves as the College’s liaison with state auditors. Supervises the data entry required for electronic files and oversees preparation of student records in hard copy. Provides updates on teacher certification requirements to the Teacher Education Cooperative (involving 16 area independent school districts, two colleges, and the regional service center). Provides updates on TExES pass rates and trends to the Department of Education and to representatives from other colleges on campus. Uses data from a variety of sources to create multiple state and federal reports required for program viability.

Minimum Requirements: 

1. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Education or a related field is required.
2. Experience in a teaching or other professional full-time employment role in a K-12 public education environment is strongly preferred.
3. Experience in state teacher certification system compliance, grant compliance, and/or accreditation compliance is strongly preferred.
4. Proficiency in technical and business writing is required.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office for Windows applications (word processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail, presentation graphics, etc.) is required.
6. Proficiency in general office equipment operation is required.
7. Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills.
