Description
Responsibilities:  
Perform backflow testing and record keeping on all irrigation backflow devices. Installs, repairs and maintains irrigation systems, both manual and automatic. Maintains and monitors central computerized irrigation system, inventory and preventive maintenance program and associated hardware. Maintains and monitors electric control systems, timing motors, switches, wires and other units less than 60 volts. Performs excavation required for sprinkler repair.
 
Minimum Requirements: 
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalency is required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years employment experience in the professional installation repair and maintenance of irrigation systems is required, both manual and automatic.
  • Proficiency in the operation of grounds equipment and tools, to include trenchers, tractors, roto-tillers and other commonly used larger pieces of power-driven grounds equipment.
  • Presently have, or be able to obtain within six (6) months of hire, an Irrigation Technician license.
  • Presently have, or be able to obtain within one (1) year of hire, a certified Backflow Tester certificate.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a current and valid Texas driver’s license and be “insurable” under UMHB auto coverage.
