The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor’s College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks qualified faculty for a tenure track position in the Department of Music beginning Fall 2019, with initial appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, commensurate with experience. UMHB seeks faculty who are active Christians and dedicated teacher-scholars to prepare students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.

The Music Department offers BM and BA undergraduate degree programs that include majors in Church Music, Music Education, and Performance.

UMHB is conveniently located in Belton, an historic town of 20,000 in the heart of central Texas. Nearby cities are Temple (5 miles), Waco (45 miles), Austin (65 miles), San Antonio (130 miles) and Dallas/Ft. Worth (130 miles). Excellent schools, abundant cultural and recreational opportunities, and a high quality of life are hallmarks of the local community.

Faculty Responsibilities:  Activities required of all faculty include exemplary teaching, curriculum development, student advising; professional attainment; and service to department, college, university, and the community.

Specific Responsibilities:  We seek an experienced stage director who is interested in developing a vibrant vocal arts program dedicated to the overall development of the 21st century vocalist. Responsibilities include directing opera and musical theatre productions, and teaching opera and musical theatre workshop classes and related courses. Other duties may be assigned based on the needs of the Music Department and the successful candidate's qualifications. The teaching load is typically 12 hours per semester.
 
Qualifications:  Master’s degree in a related field is required; Doctorate is preferred. Tenure-track status requires terminal degree in hand. Evidence of successful experience in coordinating and managing musical productions is required. Excellent teaching and communication skills, a dedication to professional attainment, and commitment to quality improvement are essential. Must be an active, and committed Christian.
