The Computer Science, Engineering, and Physics Department offers two undergraduate degree programs, one degree in Computer Science and the other in Engineering. The Department seeks to develop fully in our students their potential for excellence in Computer Science and Engineering. Our Engineering degree is designed to offer a broad education in the fundamental theoretical principles and applied technical knowledge of Engineering with emphases in mechanical, electrical and aerospace engineering. Our ultimate goal is to prepare engineering professionals in a Christian environment for careers in industry, academia, and government.
UMHB is conveniently located in Belton, an historic town of over 20,000 in the heart of central Texas. Excellent schools, abundant cultural and recreational opportunities, and a high quality of life are hallmarks of the local community.
Faculty Responsibilities: Activities required of all faculty include exemplary teaching and service to department, college, and university, including curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation; student advising; possible evening and web course development; professional attainment; recruitment and retention activities; and service to the department, college, university, and community. While primarily a teaching institution, UMHB recognizes and rewards research, publication, and other forms of scholarly attainment.
Specific Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses in introductory engineering courses and advanced courses. The teaching load is 12 hours per semester undergraduate courses with three course preparations.
- Doctorate in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is required; ABD will be considered (tenure-track status requires terminal degree in hand).
- Excellent teaching and communication skills, a dedication to professional attainment, and commitment to quality improvement are essential.
- Must be an active, and committed Christian.
